Ten years of building web apps. Then the singularity showed up, so now I'm having fun. [Talk to me](/contact).

I'm Mackenzie, a computer user in Canada. I spent about ten years building websites and web apps, and for a while ran an [AI startup](/stories/gptboss-240k-ai-business). Once the models got good enough to do most of that work, I moved on to the parts I find more interesting.

Most of my attention now goes to agent harnesses: the layer around a model that decides what an agent is called, what it can do, which skills it has and what it remembers. I use them constantly and I've built three of my own, for managing skills. It's the same question GPTBoss was asking, how to give agents names and keep their jobs separate, and it's still a quiet corner of the field, which suits me.

Outside that, I make things for the pleasure of it: a cozy, hand-made farming game in Godot; procedural generators for characters, buildings and other 3D art that people and agents can both run; and sourced [research notes](/research), such as one on [human facial parameters](/research/facial-character-parameters), that I keep on hand for that work.

I like a tool you can re-run with different settings better than an asset you make once, and I'd take charming and finished over perfect. Most of what I know I learned by doing it badly first.
