Practice management software for accounting firms: what 10 tools cost a solo practitioner and a firm of five

Ten practice management tools for accounting firms (TaxDome, Karbon, Canopy, Uku, Financial Cents, Jetpack Workflow, Tidyflow, Pixie, Remindoo and Huskey), each read on the vendor's own site on 2026-10-18, with public prices and what each costs a solo practitioner and a five-person firm.

If you sort these ten tools by price per user, you will pick the wrong one. Pixie costs from $129 a month. That makes it the dearest tool here for a solo practitioner and the second cheapest for a firm of five with a small client book, because it charges by client count, not by staff. Across the per-user tools, a five-person firm pays from $50 a month to about $417, more than eight times as much at the top.

Practice management is the software that tracks client work, deadlines and documents. Most of these tools also do billing and a client portal. Each entry was read on the vendor's own site on 2026-10-18. Prices are list prices in US dollars unless marked, and most are per user per month, billed annually. This is one group of the accounting firm software directory.

TaxDome, Karbon and Canopy are the three vendors this directory was seeded from. The other seven are the tools the scan turned up beside them. The other groups are client payments and portals, hosting and IT and AI tools.

What each tool costs at your size

The prices above come in three units, so you can't compare them in one column. TaxDome charges per seat per year. Karbon, Canopy, Uku, Financial Cents, Jetpack Workflow, Tidyflow and Huskey charge per user per month. Pixie and Remindoo charge by client count, and neither one costs more when you add staff.

So here is the math, on each tool's lowest public plan that fits the firm:

ToolSolo, a monthFive staff, a month
Huskey$10$50
Financial Cents$19 (Solo)$245 (Team)
Tidyflow$29$145
Uku$38$190
Jetpack Workflow$49$245
Karbon$59$295
TaxDomeabout $67 (Essentials)about $417 (Pro)
Canopy$74$370
Pixiefrom $129from $129
Remindoo£1.40 a client£1.40 a client

For the solo practitioner, Pixie is the dearest tool here. At five staff, if your client book fits its smallest band, it costs less than every per-user tool except Huskey. Remindoo depends only on your client book: 50 clients cost at most £70 a month, however many people log in. TaxDome's Essentials plan is for solo users only, so a firm of five starts on Pro.

Take it

Bring each vendor three numbers: how many people will log in, how many active clients you have, and which of billing, portal and e-signatures you already pay for elsewhere. Ask for the monthly total at those numbers, including onboarding and storage. Jetpack's onboarding package alone is $1,500.
